Types of Hair Removal: Here's What You Need to Know

Waxing

Efficient. Great for people who prefer an effective and efficient method of hair removal. It can remove a lot of unwanted hair at once. An added bonus is that it also exfoliates the skin. Keep in mind, not all waxes are created equally. Waxing is great for all skin types because it’s available in a variety of forms. Generally speaking there are two types of wax: soft wax and hard wax.

Threading

Accurate. Threading is a popular technique that’s used to remove hair using the friction of thread and tighten the skin. Similar to waxing, results are quick because a lot of hair can be removed at once. This linear method results in some of the prettiest shaped brows. It's great for people who like a defined brow arch. It’s a precise and flexible method because it can remove those awkwardly shaped and length hair follicles. Unlike waxing, even with repeated efforts the skin is less prone to irritation. However, it’s not the best option for people who have loose skin.

Shaving Convenient

The most common and readily available hair removal method. Shaving is also relatively more affordable per use (keep in mind that those razors add up overtime) than most hair removal methods. But certainly not recommended among most industry professionals. Like they say, “you get what you pay for”! It can lead to skin discoloration and irritation. It also only removes the hair on the surface and not the entire follicle which leads to temporary lasting results.

Tweezing

Precise. Nothing is more precise than tweezing. Detail is so important when removing unwanted hairs near hairs that you DO want. For example, I prefer using tweezers to compliment waxing because I can follow the waxing by going in and detailing my work even further. This results in the best shape possible. However, tweezing requires the patients and time that many people don’t have.

Whichever method you prefer, always seek a licensed professional. At the end of the day, do what’s best for you. Good news is now you know and you’re able to make an educated choice.
